Welcome to My Class!

I was first hired to teach at SVE back in 2002 and I knew instantly that this was a special place.  After taking a few years to be at home with my own children, I came right back to this amazing community with families, and staff members with whom I have built lifelong friendships. This will be my 22nd year teaching and it has been a fabulous journey.

I grew up in Minnesota and have never been able to totally shake that Minnesotan accent! I miss all the beautiful lakes, but not the mosquitoes! I received my undergraduate degree at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. I moved to Colorado in 2002, completed my Masters in Education, and have lived here in Highlands Ranch ever since.  There is no place I'd rather be. I LOVE Colorado and spend lots of time outdoors.  For fun, I enjoy camping, hiking, skiing, sailing, reading, and traveling. 

My husband, Jason, and I have two boys, Jackson and Cole.  Jackson is 17 (a SENIOR this year at Mountain Vista) and Cole is 14 (a 8th grader at Mountain Ridge Middle School).  Both boys are into anything outdoors.  They love camping, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, skiing, baseball, and golf.  We also have an adorable beagle named Dotti, who is the best camping dog ever!

Sixth grade is a big year for learning responsibility, accountability, academic growth, as well as social and emotional growth.  Supporting your child in establishing routines at home and at school will help them successfully navigate this year and prepare them for middle school.  I ask that you please keep me informed about issues that may impact your child at school so we can work together to make this a great year! I am looking forward to getting to know your family, helping your child to learn, feel successful and build confidence here at Summit View Elementary and beyond.

The easiest way to contact me is via email:  amy.bittick@dcsdk12.org   I do my best to respond to emails during the week within 24 hours.  Emails sent after school hours or over the weekend will be read and responded to within 24 hours of the next school day.  I have little time to check emails during the school day, so if you have an important message to get your student, please inform the office at 303-387-6800.
