Ms. Amanda Harvey
I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona but grew up in beautiful Portland, Oregon where I enjoyed four seasons of hiking in the rain every year. I moved to North Dakota to pursue a degree in Airport Management at the University of North Dakota and to discover what a true winter feels like. After completing that degree, and gaining a few life experiences, I changed paths to my life's passion and earned degrees in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education. To complete my degrees, I moved here to Colorado to student teach and then worked as a substitute teacher for DCSD for a semester. I taught 6th grade here at NRE for 4 years and was then offered the exciting opportunity to move to 1st grade. I have absolutely loved my move to 1st grade and am here to stay :)
In 2020, I rescued an amazing COVID dog and named him Bruce. He is quite the personality, loves to talk and play tug, and can't wait to cuddle at night.

Educational Experience
While earning my degrees in education, I worked for a year at an outdoor science school (similar to Outdoor Ed.) in Oregon with 6th grade students and high school volunteers. I student taught kindergarten in Grand Forks School District in North Dakota, pre-kindergarten at a private center in Colorado, and second grade at Northridge Elementary School in Colorado. I have worked as a substitute teacher for Douglas County School District where I had the opportunity to teach every grade, Kindergarten through 6th, along with various other positions including health, Spanish, and special education at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and in DCSD alternative programs. I taught 6th grade at NRE for 4 years and then made the exciting move to 1st grade in 2018.
