Visiting the LMC
Students need a signed pass from a teacher to come to the Library Media Center (LMC) during the school day...including lunch.
Passes are not required before/after school
Computer Usage
Students are expected to adhere to the DCSD Acceptable Use Policy when using school computers. SMS Tech Contract
Printing
Print Responsibly...know WHAT you're printing and WHERE you're printing.
Printing of school work is FREE for black and white..$.10 per page after 3 pages; $.25 per page for color.
Book Check Out
Students only need their student ID to check out books and materials.
Borrowing Rules for Students
All students are eligible to borrow materials unless they have lost or overdue books, have purposely damaged materials, or their parent/guardian has requested borrowing privileges be withheld.
The loan period for books is three weeks.
Renewals
Students may renew their books for two additional three-week loan periods unless the book(s) has been requested by another student or is a high-demand item.
Students must bring the book(s) to the librarian to renew.
Overdue Books
Overdue reports will be sent once a week to students and parents/guardians via email.
Students will not be allowed to check out other books until the overdue material is returned.
NOTE: Materials that are overdue more than 30 days will be marked "LOST" and a fee will be assessed through myschoobucks.com. If the book is returned within one year of the original check-out date, fees can be removed from the student's account.
Lost or Damaged Books
Damaged books should be brought to the teacher-librarian for assessment and repair. These items should not be repaired at home.
The replacement fee for library material lost or damaged shall be the full retail value of the materials, as recorded in the library database, not to be less than $10.00. Fees can be paid for through myschoolbucks.com. The library does not accept replacement copies or donations in lieu of payment. DO NOT PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT COPY.
Payment for a lost book WILL NOT BE reimbursed should the book be found.
