"Anne didn’t just keep a diary. She also wrote tales and planned to publish a book about her time in the Secret Annex. After the war, her father Otto Frank fulfilled her wish.

Part 2:  The Diary of Anne Frank, posthumously published in 1947, and eventually translated into almost 70 languages, is one of the most widely read works of non-fiction. For many, Anne's diary is their first encounter with the history of Nazi Germany's attempt to murder all the Jews of Europe during World War II.

Anne Frank wrote on July 15, 1944:

It’s difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It’s a wonder I haven’t abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
