Hello! My name is Shannon Janes, and this will be my first year at Roxborough Primary as the Gifted Talented Facilitator. This will be my 24th year of teaching! I've taught as a classroom teacher for 10 years and then for the last 13 years as a reading interventionist.
I live here in Roxborough with my husband and have two girls, Kaitlyn, 21, and Mya, 18. Both girls will be at CU Boulder this year, living their best lives! I also have 2 dogs, Maple, our 1-year-old Golden Retriever puppy, and Nala, our 5-year-old rescue dog. My favorite things to do are exercising, paddleboarding at Chatfield Reservoir, hiking, reading, watching movies, and spending time with my family.
I feel so lucky to be living and working in the Roxborough community-it is truly a special place! I also have the opportunity to work with such a unique population of students, providing differentiation, enrichment, and engaging lessons to meet every child's needs. Please reach out if you have questions, concerns, or simply want to chat about your child. You can reach me at sjanes@dcsdk12.org.
Hi! My name is Allison Rothwell, and this is my 24th year in education and 10th year as the Gifted Facilitator at Roxborough Intermediate. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Kansas State University and my gifted specialist endorsement from the University of Northern Colorado in 2019. I feel fortunate to work with our amazing advanced learners and to collaborate daily with such dedicated teachers.
I grew up in Manhattan, Kansas, and I've lived in Roxborough for ten years. My husband and I have two daughters, Madelyn (18) and Delaney (14), along with our pups, Fin and Millie. We love skiing, hiking, and spending time in Winter Park, and we feel lucky to call Colorado home.
As both an educator and a parent of RXPI students, I know firsthand what a special community this is. My role is to support teachers in creating engaging opportunities so all students—especially our GT learners—are challenged and continue to grow. One of my favorite quotes by Del Siegle sums it up well: “All students have the right to learn something new every day.”
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions—I’m always happy to connect!
