The purpose of the Battle of the Books is to promote a love for books and to encourage reading through a friendly, quick action, competition.
Students form teams of 3-5 members and work together to compete against other teams at RHMS for bragging rights and the opportunity to represent RHMS at the district battle.
If you want to participate but don't know anyone to form a team with.....Register anyway, Mrs. Tempel will help you find a team.
Battle teams can consist of different teams (Blazers, Explorers, etc.) and/or grade levels.
There are NO before or after school time commitments. Read as little or as much as you want. Lunchtime team practices will begin in March.
The quiz-bowl type format of the competition has teams answering questions about this year's 10 battle titles. Most questions begin with, "In which book..." or require specific details to be remembered from the book.
Ask Mrs. Tempel for more information.
Read books, gather your team, and register to compete!
Book trailer presentations to all LA classes
Team registration is due no later than March 2nd.
Bring your lunch to the library and practice questions with your team,
March 2nd thru March 27th. Practices are not required, attend as many or as few as needed. Read one book or all ten, it is up to you.
The RHMS building battle will take place during the lunch block (11:00-1:00) in the RHMS library on Monday March 30th.
The top two teams will advance to the district battle.
The top two winning teams from each of the 9 Middle Schools will compete in a final district throw down battle. This battle will take place after school in the RHMS Commons area.
