Mrs. Stucky’s Classroom Policies

Homework

Students are expected to read 80 minutes per week. All students are expected to practice their basic multiplication 5-10 minutes per night and complete the provided practice worksheet.  A reading and math log will be given out weekly and students are expected to fill it out and return it on Friday. 

Snacks

Students may have one snack a day.  The expectation is that the snack is healthy.  No nuts are allowed due to allergies. 

Water Bottles

Students should bring a spill-proof water bottle filled with water each day.  Only water should be inside.  No flavored water of clear soda.  

Absences

Please call the office if your child will be out sick. If your child will be out for an extended period of time, please let the office and me know as soon as possible. 

Fidgets

When used appropriately, fidgets can be a useful tool to support students who need help with attention and regulation of emotions. It is the inappropriate use of fidgets that disrupts class and hinders learning. As a team, fifth-grade teachers have decided that the use of fidgets is not allowed  If a student has a current IEP or 504 plan with accommodations that specifically state that the use of a fidget is necessary for that student to learn, then that student will be allowed to use a quiet, hidden fidget. Our administration supports this policy as well.

Birthdays

We are so glad your child was born, and we would love to celebrate with them.  We have 19 students, so if you want, you may send in a birthday treat for everyone. If you send in a food treat, please do not send in anything with nuts or something that was made in a nut-free facility.  Some other considerations include pencils, small toys, party favors, and more.  Sending in birthday treats is, of course, optional.  If your birthday is during the summer months, please feel free to celebrate your half birthday.
