I'll be sending weekly communications & updates through Smore using the email address you provided to the school at the beginning of the year. I will also be using Talking Points to send quick updates and reminders. This year, I’ll continue to use a new system I started using last year called TalkingPoints for family communication. After exploring the platform, I believe it will be a better way to stay connected especially since it supports multiple languages, making it easier for all families to receive important updates. Please ensure that I have your correct email address in Infinite Campus (Parent Portal) and that at least one member of the family has signed up for Talking Points. Please update me if it changes throughout the year.
Thanks so much!
~Mrs. Goedeker
Students should bring a full spill proof water bottle each morning with only water and they may keep it in the classroom. No flavored or colored water in the classroom. Please save all other beverages for lunch or home. We do have a water refilling station for students to fill their own bottles, however use of this will be limited so students are not missing instruction. Students will be allowed one snack during our snack time, which will be in the afternoon in combination with recess. Candy/dessert is not an acceptable snack choice, so please ensure that your student is bringing healthy snacks with them. Since we have several students with severe allergies, please be mindful of the snacks being sent and do not send in snacks with peanuts, or tree nuts. You can check the school website for suggested nut-free snacks.
Students will use their pink folder to hold all their homework and bring it back and forth to and from school. We will also use this folder to send home any completed work. Please support your student with returning it with the completed homework each morning. Your student will also have a planner that they will fill out each day.
Every Thursday, your child will bring home a folder provided by the school and if something comes up or I forget because that can sometimes happen, I will send them the next day. It will contain flyers from school, and PTO info. Please go through this every week and send back the empty folder the following day.
We love celebrating your child's birthday in class! Please communicate with me a couple of days prior to it if you would like to do something, as this take cordianation and planning on my part. It is certainly not required! Please just give me notice so if we have more than 1 - we can plan accordingly and so we can check that it is something approved to have in our classroom with our class allergies. If you are going to bring in something to eat please make sure that there are enough treats for the entire lass and that they are made from the store and packaged. They also need to be nut free. Options that don't include food are small dollar store treats such as pencils, trinkets, etc.

If there is a change to your child's normal schedule - please use the Pikmykid app or call the main office. I don't check emails often enough during the day to ensure I will get it. You can change it in Pikmykid until 3:30. If there is a permanent change, you can update in the Pikmykid app and schedule things if needed. I can only go by what you have in Pikmykid. I will dissmiss students as they are announced. This also goes for walkers. If your student is a walker and you would like them dismissed at 4:00 each day they are listed as a walker I am happy to accomidate this. Your will just need to send me an email in regards to this. All students will exit through one of the main front doors regardless of their mode of transportation. If school is called for weather, etc., you will be notified of the next steps through email. If I am able to I will also send something through Talking Points.

Field Trips and In-School Experiences
We are working hard to plan at least one off-campus field trip this year. However, due to a shortage of buses, transportation options will be limited, and the cost for each student to ride the bus will be higher than in previous years. To continue providing enriching, hands-on learning experiences, we are also planning to offer several in-school field trips. These activities will take place on campus and are designed to be both educational and fun for our students. Since these experiences do not require bus transportation, they will be significantly more affordable. To help cover the costs of these in-house field trips, we may need to charge a small fee. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to provide meaningful learning opportunities for our students.
