Behavior Technician
Hi PGE families. This is my first year here at Pine Grove and I am so excited! I will be in the Regulation room, or Grover's Zen Den, providing support to individual students that may need a break to get those wiggles out and refocus. With the help of the mental health team, my goal is to teach students how to use calming strategies to regulate themselves so they are ready to learn.
Slogan: "Where we learn to regulate so we are ready to learn"
Purpose: Grover’s Zen Den provides students with guided opportunities to practice self-regulation strategies. Our goal is to equip each student with personalized tools that support focus, calm, and success in the learning environment. As part of this intervention, students may participate in short regulation breaks led by a staff member. During these breaks, they will follow an individualized routine that helps them become regulated while also building a “toolbox” of coping skills they can use both in the Zen Den and in the classroom.
Students rotate through three stations while in the Zen Den:
Motor Station: A time for students to get their bodies moving through activities that help release energy and prepare their bodies for regulation.
Sensory Station: A time to engage the senses using tools such as kinetic sand, sound makers, Play-Doh, or other sensory materials that help calm and organize the brain through touch and sound.
Calming Station: A time for students to practice coping strategies and use calm-down tools to soothe their minds and bodies, helping them return to a state where they are ready to learn and rejoin the classroom.
