A family trip to Kauai
Hi! My name is Veta Nelan. I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year. I am a Denver native, and I love the mountains, the Broncos, Hello Kitty, and all things Colorado! This is my 15th year teaching Discovery classes at Northridge Elementary and my 20th year teaching. I have two sons. Danny is 22 and has been traveling the world. Jason is 25 and is working in the field of paleontology. Going to Broncos games with my sons, reading, hiking, and eating desserts are things I enjoy doing. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. When I was very young, I said I wanted to be a mom, a teacher, and an anthropologist. So far, I've accomplished two out of three, and who knows what the future holds? I am passionate about lifelong learning and hope to pass my love of learning to others.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe in creating a nurturing classroom environment where the diverse and unique needs of my students are addressed, celebrated, and respected. Fostering the development of an intrinsic passion for lifelong learning through mutual respect and understanding becomes a theme and focus in our classroom, as my students experience the challenges of learning at their individual level and pace.
