My name is Shelley Kowalchik and I’m excited to be teaching for a fifth year at Northeast Elementary. I am the Science and STEAM teacher at both Northeast and Roxborough Primary for specials. I grew up in Illinois and graduated from Granite City Senior High School in 1987. My husband is a Colorado native and we moved here in 2015 with our two daughters. My oldest daughter started at Northeast upon moving to Parker and I have been a fan ever since. I have a stepson who lives in Montana with his family and I became a Grandma in 2021.
Upon starting college, I was an elementary education major. As I worked my way through school each position found me in a training role and I then switched my emphasis to Adult Education. I have a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. I worked for 20 years in the finance Industry as a corporate trainer teaching investment broker training, licensing preparation, compliance oversight and branch office management. I retired in 2012 to spend more time with my family. After moving to Colorado, the time was right to pursue my first love of elementary education. I look forward to another year of STEAM and enhancing our curriculum through science!
My hobbies include teaching crafting classes at Michaels, making greeting cards and crafting of all kinds. I love spending time in the mountains and enjoying activities with my family.
I’m looking forward to making lots of science memories at Northeast with students this year!
