First and foremost, THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR VETERANS! Your dedication, courage, and commitment to our country are truly remarkable.
We are hoping you can help us with a very special project as we prepare for our Veterans Day assembly! This project will only be possible with your help, but we promise it is easy!

We have created a Padlet where you can upload pictures of veterans in your family or among your friends who have served in the military.
All you need to do is:
Click the plus (+) button on the Padlet.
Upload a picture of a veteran you would like to share.
Include a brief description of the picture. Please share the veteran's name, their branch of service (if known), and who the Veteran is related to.
The pictures do NOT need to be digital! You can simply take a picture of an old photograph with your phone and upload it.

The padlet that we are all creating will be played throughout our assembly next Wednesday, November 11. Teachers will also have the opportunity to share this within classrooms as well.

Important Update: New DCSD Communication Device Policy
This spring, the DCSD Board of Education voted to adopt a new policy on Student Use of Communication Devices in Schools. We want to make sure families are aware of what this means for our elementary students.
Elementary and Middle Schools: Students with communication devices must keep them silenced (no vibration or sound), stored, and not used during the entire school day.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Smartphones
Smartwatches
Smart glasses
Other communication devices, including earbuds/headphones and similar devices
Devices will be stored in an area designated by the school. There are limited exceptions, such as when a staff member gives permission for instructional purposes or an urgent situation, or when use is required by a student's IEP, 504 plan, or documented health need.
The district's goal is to support students' mental health, social and academic engagement, academic performance, and a focused learning environment.
We appreciate your partnership in helping students understand and follow this new expectation. Please review the policy with your child before the start of school so they are prepared for the new school-day expectations.
