Greetings and welcome to Cimarron!
I would first like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jaime Martinez, and I am thrilled to begin my twentieth year in education, and my sixteenth year as a 6th grade teacher! This is my fifth year at Cimarron, and I am looking forward to helping your child transition into middle school.
I am a Colorado native who graduated from Cherry Creek High School and knew at the age of seven that I wanted to be a teacher. I live with my husband, Dave, who I have been married to for almost sixteen years now, our thirteen year old son, Brad, and our ten year old son, Will! I love the mountains, Colorado sunrises and sunsets, skiing, traveling, gardening, reading, playing tennis, and spending time with my family who lives in Colorado.
I journeyed to Pennsylvania for college and graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and teaching certification for grades K-12. In December 2008, I received my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading and Writing from CU Denver. Additionally, I have taught graduate students through the Responsive Literacy Education program at CU Denver, I have tutored many students over the years, and I have even taught preschool. I am passionate about educating people of all ages, and I am looking forward to another great year teaching middle schoolers!
My summer was excellent! Mr. Martinez, Brad, Will, and I spent most of our summer at home as a family. We started off the summer with a brand new addition to our family, a 12 week old Australian Mountain doodle puppy. We named him Einstein (after the 99th element Einsteinium), and we are totally in love with him! He has brought us a lot of joy this summer along with a lot of laughs as we witness his funny, and sometimes naughty, behavior. We also journeyed to the mountains and couple of weekends in Steamboat with my sister and her family. In addition, we spent time this summer swimming, playing tennis, biking, gardening, playing games, and hanging out with our extended family. I also had the opportunity to travel to Crestone, CO with some close friends of mine from middle school. Crestone was beautiful, and we had a wonderful time hiking in Great Sand Dunes national park and soaking in a hot springs close to where we stayed. We saw amazing wild life, and beautiful foliage on our hikes. My family finished off the summer with a wonderful day at Water World and a relaxing week at home! Overall, it was a very enjoyable summer, and I am excited to be back to start the school year at Cimarron! I am looking forward to getting to know your child! We have a lot of fun, engaging learning experiences ahead of us.
The newest member of the Martinez family!
