Welcome to first grade! What a great year it is going to be! This page is a resource for you to come to find all you need to know about what is happening in our class.
My name is Carla Brown. I am excited to meet my new students and their families for the 2023-24 school year! This year will be my 17th year teaching. I have been in Douglas County School District since 2019 and this is my third school year at Legacy Point Elementary! I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University. Along my journey, I have taught in Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, and Oklahoma. This is my sixth year teaching first grade and I have discovered it is my favorite after teaching fourth, third, special needs preschool and being a full time reading and math interventionist. I love the growth that happens right before my eyes each day in first grade! I feel so lucky to get to guide students to be the very best they can be academically, socially, and emotionally. I have two amazing daughters, Katt and Hannah. Katt is a junior at the University of Colorado in Boulder and Hannah is working full time and saving her money for pursuing the next steps in her education. We have three pets. JT and Ace are our adorable rescue pups and Sissy is our feisty 17 year old cat. I look forward to knowing all about each student and their family. Let's all work together to make this a fantastic year!

It's been a great first few days of school! We've been busy with learning procedures and establishing routines. We have gone over four of the seven habits and will continue with the other three this week.
Remember to send water bottles.
