ABOUT ME
I’m so excited to begin the first official year at Mountain Peak Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher! I’ve been teaching since 2001 in both California and Colorado, teaching students in grades 3–6 as well as across K–6 as a substitute teacher.
I hold a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and love creating engaging lessons that help students truly understand and remember what they’re learning. Building strong relationships with my students is the heart of what I do, and I believe every child can succeed with the right support.
MY FAMILY
My husband, Chris, and I live just minutes from Mountain Peak Elementary, and our children have attended DCSD schools since preschool. We have three amazing kids—Nathan who's in college for pediatric psychology, Emma who is a sophomore at Mountain Vista High School and on Varsity Poms, and Kaden who is in 7th grade at Mountain Ridge Middle School who loves martial arts and the theater. We also have two adorable Havanese dogs, MJ and Wally, who keep us on our toes!
We love traveling to see family, visits to Disney (going in December--yay!), being outdoors, going to Rockies games, and spending time together as a family. I also enjoy reading, baking sourdough, the performing arts, and creative hobbies like crocheting and diamond painting.
MY JOURNEY TO MOUNTAIN PEAK ELEMENTARY
After 15 years of teaching in Jeffco Schools, I made the heartbreaking decision to step back from the classroom in 2016 to care for our youngest son, Kaden, who was born with DiGeorge syndrome. Although he continues to face significant health challenges, he is doing very well, and I was eager to return to the career I love. (If you'd like to learn more about Kaden's journey, here's a video from 2018 that shares a bit of what he's been through.)
I started back in the classroom substitute teaching in 2019 and returned full time as a 5th grade teacher at Heritage Elementary in 2023. Now, I am thrilled to be continuing the journey in 4th grade at Mountain Peak Elementary School with you! I’m grateful to continue doing the work I love and truly look forward to a year of learning, growth, and special moments with your children. ♥️
Yours truly,
Mrs. Lisa Livesay
