Philosophy
My ultimate goal as a teacher is to make sure each child feels safe, valued, and empowered to take on challenges. Every student brings unique strengths, perspectives, and needs to our classroom community. I’m passionate about getting to know each child individually so I can support their growth and help them reach their fullest potential—both academically and personally. I’m so excited to partner with you and your child this year. 4th grade is a year of incredible growth, increased independence, and deepening curiosity. Together, we’ll explore new ideas, tackle challenges, and celebrate progress every step of the way. It is my mission to instill a lifelong love for learning in my students. This year, your 4th grader will have many opportunities to build and apply essential 21st century skills like collaboration, problem solving, resiliency, and creativity. I can’t wait to see all that we’ll discover and accomplish together!
About Me
I'm a Colorado native and grew up right here in Douglas County. It means so much to now teach in the same district where I had the opportunity to go to school myself. I graduated from Metropolitan State University with a degree in Human Development and an emphasis in Elementary Education. I recently earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. I spent the past nine years teaching 1st grade and before that, I taught both kindergarten and 5th grade. I feel so lucky to be a part of the Gold Rush community and return to the upper elementary classroom!
I’m married to my wonderful husband, Danny, who is also a teacher and football coach at Legend High School (go Titans!). We have two sweet kids—Kennedy (6) and Brady (3). We’re thrilled that Kennedy will be starting kindergarten and Brady will be in preschool at Gold Rush this year. As a family, we love spending time outdoors, attending Legend sporting events and cheering on the Rockies. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, reading and drinking iced coffee.
