All of our programs are based out of the cafeteria and gym at FVE. We offer options for before school care, after school care, and care on most school breaks and professional development days. Please refer to our calendar page for detailed information regarding daily schedules and closure dates (but more importantly, check that page out because it lists all of the fun things we get to do when school is closed!).
Above all else, we strive to create an environment where all are welcome, and where all feel safe - physically, emotionally, and psychologically.
We know it is rare for families to have a set schedule every week, and strive to offer families the flexibility that they need. We do request that schedules for each week be submitted by midnight Wednesday of the week prior. Families are still able to register after that, however additional fees are incurred. This deadline helps us to be able to staff appropriately and prepare to have your child with us.
When arriving to our program, please feel free to park on Canterberry Trail and follow the big staircase down to the cafeteria doors. Once there, our staff will greet you and assist you as needed!
If you have any questions about program offerings, please feel free to contact Sally Smith, Program Manager at (303)387-8492 or sally.smith@dcsdk12.org. Prices are subject to change.
6:30am to 8:30am - $14.00 Per Child
Our morning program offers students a variety of activities that are designed to meet the needs of all students. For those who need a little time to relax and slowly wake up, students may color, participate in the morning craft, or read or simply hang out at a table alone or with friends. For those students who are awake and ready to be active, we offer both free time and a structured group game in the gym. We also offer students the ability to use school-provided technology on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. A monthly activity calendar is posted in the cafeteria so students can know what to expect. Students are always allowed to bring breakfast food from home!
3:30pm to 6:00pm - $15.00
When coming in to our after school program, students are offered a nutritious snack. Snack menus are available, and students are always allowed to bring nutritious options from home to supplement our offerings. When the weather cooperates, we love spending some time outside on our playground! Following that, students have the choice between a structured gym game, a craft, or can spend some time working on homework. We offer school-provided technology on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with a limit of 20 minutes per day. Fridays are "Film Fridays" (either before or after school) and we do have an appropriate movie for students to watch in addition to the other choices previously mentioned.
7:00am - 5:30pm. $35.00 Per Child/10% Sibling Discount
$35.00 Per Child for field trip days + ( Pre-determined activity Fee)
Full days with BASE are so much fun! We offer field trips three times per week, and are on-site at FVE for the other days. Past field trips have included parks, swimming pools, Red Robin, Wings Over the Rockies, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Zoo, Anderson Farms, The Island, and many others. Basically, if students will have a good time, we try to go there! Itineraries are always posted on our website, and emailed to families in advance so that you can know what time your child needs to arrive by, what they need, and when we will be back. You can check out our current full day itineraries on the FULL DAY page. Itineraries will include the added activity fee that covers the cost of transportation, and entrance in to the destination. It is our policy to be absolutely transparent about these fees, and you can always contact the Program Manager if you have questions about a particular day.
When we aren't exploring a field trip site, we are at FVE all day. These days will offer a mix of structured and free-choice activities, time outside (weather permitting of course), and time inside.
If you child does not attend Frontier Valley, these full days can still be a great choice for your elementary school aged child. We have families who join us from C2E, PCK, American Academy, and other area charter/parochial schools. Please contact the Program Manager, Sally Smith, for information on how to register (303)387-8492, sally.smith@dcsdk12.org.
It is our hope that students have input in to the planning of full days, and staff have been trained to make that happen. We find children get a lot more out of their day if they are involved in it (as opposed to the day just "happening" to them).
Scheduling and Payment Processes: Parents shall submit child care schedules through the online SchoolCare Works parent portal, no later than Wednesday at midnight for the following week or weeks of care, in order to allow the program time to staff and plan accordingly. If space is available, parents may sign up after the Wednesday midnight cutoff, and late fees will be automatically charged through the system.
Unscheduled Child Care: It is important that parents submit schedules online so that we can provide adequate and appropriate supervision at all times. Parents who do not submit schedules through the SchoolCare Works parent portal must first verify that there is space available by contacting the program. If a child checks into the program without being properly scheduled by parents and/or without contacting the program, parents will be contacted. If the program is not able to accept the child due to staffing or capacity limits, parents shall arrange to have child picked up at school immediately. When parents do not schedule child care through SchoolCare Works, appropriate charges will be posted to the parent’s account. Parents shall pay the outstanding balance as soon as possible. The BASE Program Manager has discretion to deny services if parents fail to pay child care dollars owed in a timely manner.
Absences / Refunds / Schedule Changes: In order to ensure adequate staffing and keep our tuition rates affordable, we do not issue refunds or credits (applying dollars paid for absent days toward future charges) unless we are notified by the Wednesday prior to care needed, except for significant hardships such as extended illnesses, loss of employment, or family emergencies. However, each family will have 2 credit vouchers per year per child to use for a session of your choice, including full days. Parents may add days after the scheduling cutoff if there is space available, and at a higher rate as outlined in the itemized fee schedule.
Be sure to call ahead if you intend to drop you child in to a session or intend to remove your child from school the day of a session your child is registered for!!
Annual Enrollment Fee (once a year):
$75 (one child)
$100 (families with two or more children)
Late calendars will result in an additional $3 fee per session.
