Welcome to 5th grade at Fox Creek Elementary! Our year is full of amazing learning. As a team, we intentionally teach to the head, hands, and hearts of our students in order to help guide their growth not only as academics, but as well-rounded human beings who can think critically and analytically about the world around them.
5th graders dive into multiple expeditionary learning explorations throughout our year, encompassing numerous field work experiences and curricular subjects during each project. All projects are grounded in our state standards while engaging children in authentic, real-world problems and challenges. During our school year, our students make discoveries through Expeditionary Learning about our nation's history, the solar system, personal financial literacy, human rights, and biodiversity of the rainforest and local ecosystems, as well as social-emotional and character education. Within the duration of projects, we participate in numerous learning field work experiences that support and deepen the authenticity of each module. For example, within our human rights unit, we visit and advocate for our local human rights heroes such as The Backpack Society, Cafe 180, and Freedom Service Dogs.
We work collaboratively as a 5th grade team to hold each student to a high standard while focusing on and uplifting individual strengths. We believe all students can succeed in an inclusive and safe classroom community. We look forward to learning with you!
