Hello! Welcome to 2nd Grade!
I’m absolutely thrilled to be teaching 2nd grade this year! It’s a grade that has always held a special place in my heart. It was my favorite year as a child, and I still remember the books I read, the hands-on projects I loved, and the teacher (Mrs. Putz) who made me feel seen, valued, and truly believed in. My greatest hope is to create a similar experience for your child, helping them feel confident, inspired, and excited to come to school every single day.
This is my second year in the classroom and my fourth year as an employee here at Eldorado. However, my connection to this school runs much deeper. I’ve been part of this incredible community for nearly a decade. My journey began in 2016 as a parent and volunteer when my older children first walked these very halls. In 2022, I officially joined the staff as an Educational Assistant. Then last year, I stepped into the classroom as a kindergarten teacher, and I loved every minute of it.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Geography with a minor in Geographic Information Systems from New Mexico State University in 2011, but I’ve always felt a deep pull toward the classroom and a love of learning. I’m currently finishing my master’s in Elementary Education, which I will complete this fall. I had the amazing opportunity to jump into this new career and earn my teaching license through an alternative licensure program in partnership with Douglas County.
I can’t wait to get to know your child and your family. We’re going to have a wonderful year together filled with learning, laughter, and lots of growth.
A bit about the other sides of my life—beyond teaching.
I’ve been married to my best friend for 17 years, and together we have four wonderfully unique boys who keep life exciting. Our boys range from 3rd grade all the way up to sophomore in high school. I’m right here in the parenting trenches with you! Our family moved from New Mexico 9 years ago and we have fallen in love with Colorado.
When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me off on adventures with my boys, epic walks with my husband, hiking with friends, volunteering with a local youth group, baking sweet treats, listening to music (which you’ll often hear playing in our classroom), or enjoying the simple parts of life. I love finding the joy in everyday life and bringing that same energy into our classroom.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing children with me. I feel truly honored to be a part of their journey this year, and I can’t wait to watch them grow, learn, and shine in 2nd grade! - Mrs. Allred
