About Myself

I am humbled and honored to be the 2022-2023 Apple Award Recipient for Eagle Ridge!

I can't wait to be your child's teacher this year.  We will learn so many fun things.  Here is a little bit about me:

I grew up in Rocky Ford, Colorado which is a very small town on the south eastern plains.  Rocky Ford is known for some of the best cantaloupes.  My dad is a fourth generation farmer so I'm lucky enough to eat lots of cantaloupe straight from the fields in late summer.  We spent many hours cheering for our small town school mascot known as the "Meloneers."  I know, right?  It was a great place to grow up and had a huge influence on my decision to become a teacher.

After high school, I attended Colorado State University.  Go RAMS!  I spent my summers coaching swim teams and working with children.

I have been teaching kindergarten and first grade for 30 years in Littleton and Douglas County and I love every minute of it.  I love learning so much that I earned a Master's Degree in Education with a focus in Literacy Development in 2003 and still take staff development classes to continue to learn and be the best I can be.

My husband and I have two young adults - Jack (24) and Abby (21).  They keep us busy!  My son graduated from CSU with a finance degree and works in La Jolla, California.  My daughter Abby will be a senior at Ole Miss pursuing a psychology degree.  She is on the Ole Miss cheer team for her 4th year so we will be excited to watch her cheer on her team - Go Rebs!

In my spare time, you will find me on the tennis court somewhere.  During the years I've played, I have won the Colorado Cup and 2 City Championship titles.  Currently, I play at the 4.0 level which has been such a fun challenge for me.  I also enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family.  I love being a mom and I love being a teacher.  I feel fortunate to have the perspective of both.  I can't wait to spend time with all of your children.
