Purpose of Induction
The Douglas County School District Induction Program for principals and administrators is designed to meet the following purposes:
Assist newly-licensed principals/administrators, veteran principals/administrators new to the organization and incoming out-of-state principals/administrators (either new or veteran) in making a smooth transition into the Douglas County School District environment
Increase the skills and abilities of new-to-school or district principals/administrators and to ensure that those principals/administrators new to Douglas County are knowledgeable about leadership practices and expectations aligned with the Douglas County School District Strategic Plan, Continuous Improvement of Teacher Effectiveness (CITE - teacher evaluation system), and Leadership Effectiveness Through Analysis and Data (LEAD - administrator evaluation system)
Provide support to and retain effective Douglas County principals and administrators
In order to participate in an induction program, a person must be currently in the position they are endorsed in so they can be mentored and supported within their role. For example, if a person possesses an initial principal license but is currently in a PLS or teacher role, they would not be able participate in induction.
