Support Groups
Support groups are offered at Douglas County High School on an ongoing basis. These groups, facilitated by grade-level counselors and school psychologists, provide general support to students. These groups are intended to help alleviate stressors that may impact school success. See your counselor for more information.
The turbulent years of adolescence can be challenging. During these times, the Douglas County High School counselors, school psychologist and social worker work with students and families to seek appropriate resources.
Douglas County High School counselors believe that drug and alcohol use and abuse interfere with academic success and pursuit of future goals. When these issues arise, counselors will intervene with appropriate assessments, feedback, and resources. Please see the link to the left for resources in the metro-Denver area.
Because professional school counselors work with many students with a wide variety of academic and personal/social needs, Douglas County High School counselors are available for brief support. Students who require a more intensive therapeutic intervention may need to access resources outside of the school environment. The Resource Guide and referral lists provided in the links to the left list many resources that are available in the community and are not an endorsement for any specific organization, facility, or service. It is the responsibility of the individual family to further research these assistance programs.
