Expectations
Learning French/Spanish is your job this year. What are you going to do to make sure that happens?
Arrive for class prepared and on time. Be thrilled to be in French or Spanish class. Bring required materials to each class period. Every day you will need your computer, binder, paper, pencil and dry erase marker.
Attend to personal needs prior to arriving to class. Students will be expected to remain in the classroom for the duration of the class period. Emergencies will be treated on an individual basis.
Please use the bathroom before coming to class. Frequent interruptions disturb the learning environment when students are constantly entering and exiting. I have to pause my teaching to open the door, as it must remain locked due to our location in the chalet. Thank you for your understanding.
Finish food and drink prior to arriving to class. THIS INCLUDES GUM. Food and drink are not permitted in the classroom. You may bring drinking water to class as long as it is in a closed container.
When teacher is speaking, students are not. As this is a class where listening skills for acquisition of the second language are important, as well as for following instructions and participating in classroom activities, students will need to focus on what the instructor is presenting.
While in French/Spanish class, students will be expected to participate and be engaged in the class. Work from other classes will not be permitted during French/Spanish class.
Students will be expected to use all French/Spanish knowledge while in class. If instructor is speaking in French/Spanish and modeling French/Spanish, students will be expected to use French/Spanish
Take responsibility for your learning. If you do not understand something in class, it's YOUR responsibility to let me know. Practice every night at home a little bit.
Use polite language and body language. Negativity and lack of respect for other students and/or teacher will not be accepted. BE POSITIVE.

Absences
Missing class really impacts your learning. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check the webpage, to come before or after school to ask for clarification. I would suggest that you get a friend’s phone number and ask them that day what you have missed, so you can review it yourself before coming to class.
