Creating Student Accounts
Use these directions to help your new students create their Typing Pal accounts.
In either Firefox or Chrome, search for "Typing Pal School Login" or click here.
If needed, the CSE school code is: dcsdcsms (It does not matter if these are upper case or lower case letters.) After double-checking the letters you typed, press enter.
Click on Clear Sky.
2. At the bottom of the page, click on the "Create an account." Students should NOT be using Google.
3. Once on the "Create an Account" page, have the student select their avatar by clicking on "Edit".
4. Begin to enter the student's information. (If you do enter their email address, please double check IC to ensure it's accuracy.)
5. For your username, you will use the same username as a student's Google Account. This will be their last name, first initial, middle initial. Some students may not have a middle initial and for others, they may have a number after their name. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS USERNAME IS EXACT!
6. For the password, it will be the same as what is used for email...Dcsd and the student ID number (aka: lunch number). You must make the first D capital and the other three letters lower case: Dcsd123456. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS PASSWORD IS EXACT! You will have to enter the password TWO times.
7. For the "Signup Code" you will need to enter 720490. From the "Teacher" drop-down menu, select your name. From the "Group" drop-down, select your last name with the current school year label. Finally, click on "Finish signup".
Once logged in, students will be on the homepage of their account.
Have students review the "Basic Advice" section and complete the "Initial Test."
Once an exercise has been completed successfully, you will see a green exercise icon, along with a green checkmark.
The dark blue icon shows the current exercise that the student should be working on.
Finally, the greyed-out icon shows an exercise that has yet to be started and is coming up next.
Managing Student Accounts
If you would like to view your students' progress and activity within Typing Pal, ensure that you have moved them into your class.
1. Once logged in, you will see that you have two groups. One is your grade level and the other is the group for your 25-26 homeroom.
2. Click on the “Students” tab located just under your name. This is all of the students in your grade level as of September 4th.
3. Scroll through the students in your grade level and click in the small checkbox for each of the ones in your class.
4. Once you have all of your students selected, click the green "More" button, select "Move", and within the drop-down, select your 25-26 homeroom.
(If you accidentally move a student, just go into your class, select them, and then move them back into the main grade level.)
