 Auditions

Thurs., Nov. 13, 4:00-6:00pm, Highlands Ranch High School - All brass, woodwind, percussion.

Do not show up earlier than 3:30 for the auditions.

Rehearsals

Wed., Dec. 3, 6:30-8:45pm, Highlands Ranch High School - with band directors

Wed., Jan. 7, 6:30-8:45pm, Highlands Ranch High School - Sectionals

Fri., Jan. 9, 6:30-8:45pm, Highlands Ranch High School - with guest conductor

Sat., Jan. 10, 1-6pm, Highlands Ranch High School - with guest conductor

Mon. Jan 12, 2:00-4:30pm, + 7pm Concert, Boettcher Concert Hall

All students auditioning and participating must be members of their high school music program.

Our Final Rehearsal and Performance will be at Boettcher Concert Hall - 1000 14th St, Denver, CO 80202

Audition Music

Scales

• Harmonic Minor Scale of your choice: 2 octaves, in 8th notes, quarter-note = 120 

• Chromatic Scale of your choice: 2 octaves, in 8th notes, quarter-note = 80

• No Major Scales - Playing a major scale will result in the automatic forfeiture of points for one of the other two scales you were supposed to be performing.

Sight Reading

• A sight reading excerpt for your specific instrument will be provided at the audition 

  • You will have 30-45 seconds to look at the music before performing it

  • You may NOT play the excerpt during that time. Singing/clapping/counting are allowed.

  • You are responsible for your own tempo. Your judge will not count you off.

• If you would like practice, use Level 4 exercises on Sight Reading Factory
