Hi! I'm so glad you're here!

My name is Nicole Martin, and I am Cimarron's Teacher Librarian. This will be my 25th year in education. Prior to being a librarian, I was a language arts teacher for 22 years. I have been at CIMS since 2013 and taught on teams Aztec, Blazer, and Mustang. 

The Library has become the heart and hub of our school. I hope you enjoy this space as much as I do!

Here are some facts about me:

• I love relaxing with a good book, but when I was a middle schooler, I was a slower reader. 

• My favorite genre is mystery.

• I have a BA in English/Secondary Education and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.

• I was Cimarron's Teacher Apple Award Winner for the 2018-19 school year.

• I was born in Illinois and moved to Colorado in 2006 from the Chicago suburbs, but I spent K-6 in Texas.

• My daughter, Elin, is a senior at the University of Colorado-Boulder. She loves reading, writing, painting, drawing, and musical theater. She's majoring in English and minoring in Sociology, and she wants to teach middle school ELA. (Like mother, like daughter!)

• My son, Andrew, is a sophomore at Colorado State University. He loves gaming, working out, hiking, and international travel. He is in the School of Business with an emphasis on Finance and a double concentration in Corporate and Investment.

• My husband, Bruce, is a realtor and land developer.

• Both of my kids attended Cimarron and Legend.

• I have two dogs, Lexie & Teddi, and three cats, Dash, Luna, and Boozle.

• I believe in mindfulness and practice deep breathing techniques as well as meditation.

• I love dark chocolate and Twizzlers.

• I enjoy yoga and pilates. Stretching feels fantastic!

• I love watching NFL football on Sundays in the fall and winter. 

• My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.

• I think Grogu (AKA Baby Yoda) is THE cutest thing ever. Oh, and I love Star Wars!

• My favorite color is green.
