I am excited to bring Running Club to Mountain Peak Elementary and provide students with opportunities to build endurance, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement! My goal is to help students discover how beneficial running and walking can be for both their physical health and overall well-being. Running Club is not just about fitness—it’s also a chance for students to reduce stress, clear their minds, build resilience, and enjoy time outdoors with friends!

To help make the experience fun and motivating, students are welcome to bring headphones and listen to music while they walk or run. Whether students are training for a personal goal or simply looking for an enjoyable way to stay active, I hope Running Club becomes a positive part of their week and encourages healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Running and walking offer many health benefits:

🏃‍♂️ Build and tone muscles

🔥 Burn calories

😌 Reduce stress

💪 Improve overall fitness

🌞 Set a positive tone for the day!

During Running Club, students practice important fitness concepts like pacing, running form, and managing their energy while moving. To keep students motivated, they earn toe tokens—small, colorful charms—for every mile they complete! Each student also receives a necklace to display their collection throughout the season.

Here’s what a typical Running Club morning looks like:

Warm-Up Game: We begin with a fun game of tag to get our bodies moving.

Dynamic Stretching: Our 5th-grade leaders guide the group through stretches to prepare for running.

Running Time: Students run laps on a course set up on the field for about 25–30 minutes.

Toe Token Awards: We wrap up by recognizing students with their earned tokens for the day!

Who Can Join?

Running Club is open to all 3rd–5th grade students. We’ve found that the physical stamina needed for sustained running makes these grades the best fit for participation.

I can’t wait to see your student on the field—let’s run into the day with energy, excitement, and fun!
