Welcome to PE! I believe physical education plays an essential role in a child’s overall education by helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to lead active, healthy lives.
My goal is to provide a positive, supportive, and engaging environment where every student can experience success. Throughout the year, students will be introduced to a wide variety of movement skills, activities, and games designed to build confidence, encourage teamwork, and foster a love of physical activity. I hope these experiences help students discover activities they enjoy and inspire them to stay active both in and out of school.
In PE, students will have opportunities to be creative, challenge themselves, and express their individuality through movement. I believe every child can grow physically, socially, and emotionally through meaningful physical activity and should feel empowered to reach their full potential.
I also place a strong emphasis on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in my classes. Physical education provides countless natural opportunities for students to practice important life skills such as teamwork, communication, perseverance, empathy, self-regulation, problem-solving, and responsible decision-making. Through cooperative activities, games, and challenges, students learn how to support one another, handle successes and setbacks, and build positive relationships both on and off the playing field.
My curriculum is built around a skills-based approach, focusing on the development of fundamental movement and motor skills that serve as the foundation for lifelong fitness and recreation. As students build competence in these essential skills, they will apply them in a variety of games, sports, fitness activities, and cooperative challenges. Developing confidence in movement at an early age helps students establish healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
I am excited to partner with you in supporting your child’s growth and success this year. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns at any time.
