7th Grade Accelerated Math

Welcome to Accelerated 7th! Math is such a fun subject and exploring the patterns and seeing it in every aspect of life is so interesting. Please note, you as a student are expected to put 100% effort into your work. This is your FIRST accelerated class, so yes...it will be challenging - it's supposed to be! Don't run away...Embrace it!

Please make sure you are taking advantage of the benefits of relearning and proving your knowledge.

Some kids think they are not "placed right" because this class can be "hard" but answer some of these questions...

• Are you practicing outside of school for at least 20 minutes an evening? 

• Are you passing your mandatory weekly iReady lesson? Passing with an 80% or higher? Are you doing more than one?

• Have you come in for tutoring and worked productively? (whether it is with me or another math teacher)

• Have you reassessed on any and all mastery checks you've received a 3.75 or lower within 2 weeks of taking the original? 

• Did you take advantage of the built in reassessment on the unit test and fix all the highlighted parts?

If you can answer YES to all of these questions AND you're still "failing" (a low C or lower), then sure, let's have a meeting with you, your parents, myself, and the counselor and we'll adjust. 

If you answered NO to half or more...then you are in the right place BUT you have to start putting in the effort. There is a good chance math came easy for you before and now it's rearing its head --- YOU CAN DO THIS! Please start by productively doing the questions above.
