Athletics-Activities Face Coverings

      • Volleyball, Basketball and Wrestling are the sports with an exemption for Contest Eligible Participants to wear a face covering while indoors. All other persons – including but not limited to student/adult team managers, team statisticians, coaches, auxiliary staff, contest officials, administrative staff members, contest workers, volunteers and spectators – must wear a face covering while indoors attending a practice, event/meeting/film session, scrimmage, contest, et. all. The NIAA recommends that Contest Eligible Participants wear a face covering while indoors and engaged in an activity unrelated to a practice, scrimmage or contest.

      • Contest Eligible Participants may wear a face covering at any time. If a Team Member chooses to wear a face covering, the face covering must be school-approved, reflect the ideals of sportsmanship and not display a sponsorship. It is recommended that a face covering worn by a Team Member include a reference to the school’s name, logo or mascot.

      • NIAA member school districts and schools may be more restrictive than the NIAA’s minimal standards. In such a case, the out-of-county opponent must adhere to the standards of the hosting NIAA-member school district or school with exceptions *.

      • This Mandatory Face Covering guidance is in effect at all member school districts and schools as detailed in Directive 048.

      • It is understood that hosting NIAA member school districts and schools will communicate with their opponent member school districts and schools about any more restrictive measures in place locally sufficiently prior to the opponent member school traveling to the host site. • Non-NIAA member school districts and schools, including a member school from another NFHS state association, are subject to the Mandatory Face Covering guidance herein.

      • In the case of an outbreak (COVID-19 related or otherwise), a department within the State of Nevada may issue more restrictive measures on a school-by-school basis.
