Message from The School Nurse

November 2021

Annual Health Screening:

The health office will be conducting our annual vision and hearing screenings as well as heights and weights for all grades starting the second week of November. If you do not want your child to have a school screening please send in a letter stating this as soon as possible.

The screenings may reveal changes that require we send a note home urging follow up with a specialist. If we find your child needs further testing, a call to home will be made as well as the 2-way school form requiring completion and return with the specialist’s recommendation. If your child sees a specialist please keep us informed. Notices are only sent to those students that do not meet the states standards. If your child wears glasses or hearing aids please have them wear them.

Physical Reminder:

Please send in your child’s 3rd grade physical for the 2021/2022 school year. If your child had a physical over the summer please forward a copy to the health office.

Cold Weather:

Keep in mind, the weather is starting to get colder and with that, I’d like to remind all families to send the children in with warm outerwear including hats and gloves. The children go outside Daily unless weather conditions do not allow us to have outdoor recess.

Classroom Celebrations:

Thank you for working closely with the classroom teachers before sending in any foods for party celebrations. We have had great fun and full participation of all students when veggies/ fruits/ popsicles/ Italian Ice or similar treats are sent in. This is all an important part of the need for FOOD ALLERGY AWARENESS in our school community. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the school.

Last but not least, thank you for continuing to keep our school safe by keeping your child home if they do not feel well and contacting the school for guidance.
