Pays full tuition, fees, a $1,200/year book stipend, and a monthly stipend of $420/month
Cadets can compete for 3.5-, 3-, 2.5-, or 2-year on campus scholarships once enrolled
Type 1: 5% awarded, full tuition and fees
Type 2: 15% awarded, up to $18K towards tuition and fees
Type 3: 80% awarded, up to instate tuition and fees
(All include $450/semester book stipend and a monthly stipend starting at $300/month)
4- year scholarship for High school seniors that pays full tuition, fees, a $750/year book stipend, and a monthly stipend starting at $250/month
Midshipmen/Marine Option Candidates can compete for 3- and 2-year scholarships once enrolled

Since its founding in 1839, Virginia Military Institute has recognized and rewarded outstanding academic achievement. Today, approximately 100 cadets attend the Institute on full and partial academic scholarships awarded in recognition of their accomplishments. If you are an academically talented and intellectually curious student with a well-balanced high school record that includes leadership roles and a broad spectrum of extracurricular activities, you may be eligible to join this elite group of scholar-cadets. Financial need is not a criterion for selection
For consideration, candidates must meet or exceed the following criteria: Combined SAT: 1350 (combined critical reading & math) or ACT: 31 High school GPA: 3.7
Interviewing:
The Institute Scholarship selection committee reviews applications on a rolling basis. Outstanding candidates will be invited to make arrangements for an on-Post interview
To be considered for the Institute Scholarship Program the following materials must be received by the VMI Admissions Office no later than February 1, 2020.
Candidates are advised to complete the scholarship application package and have their materials submitted as early as possible.
