Hi [Teacher Name],
I am applying to DCI's Voyager Exchange to [destination]. Would you be willing to complete a teacher recommendation for me? Here is the link to the form. The recommendation is due by 11:59 pm on June 30th.
Thank you very much,
Sincerely,
[Your name]
Is there financial aid available?
Yes. All students who qualify for FARMS will pay a reduced price to participate in the program. The reduced price is $500 less than the full price.
Why is there a minimum language level requirement?
Student travelers will be living with host families and attending classes at the host school during their time abroad. The expectation is that they spend as much time as possible speaking their target language, and are responsible for advocating for what they want during their downtime. The English proficiency of host families, host students, and host school school staff is never guaranteed. DCI chaperones are always available for emergency target language needs, but will not be with students 24/7. As such, students must be proficient enough in their target language to be largely self-reliant abroad.
Can I participate in multiple exchanges per year?
No. Students may only apply to one exchange for their primary language track for any given year. In addition, students may only participate in one exchange during their time at DCI.
If I don't get accepted to the program this year, can I apply again next year?
Yes, as long as you still satisfy the eligibility requirements.
My family can't host a student from the partner school, does that mean I can't apply for the Voyager Exchange?
You can still apply! Hosting is highly encouraged but not required. Even if you won't have a visiting student at your house, you're still expected to participate in activities to make them feel welcome and included while they're in DC.
