The Assistant Headteacher responsible for 6th Form & Post 16 Guidance
Welcome to our 6th Form Virtual Options Site!
Thank you for visiting and I hope that you find the information that you need to make an informed choice over your next steps. I am very proud to oversee our 6th form and of the achievements and the types of people that represent us in the 6th form. I want you to make the right decision for you but I also want you to understand that by joining us you are committing yourself to be determined to be a positive role model and influence both in school and the wider community.
To be a DCHS 6th former is to agree to work hard and try your best, to get involved in the life of the school and want to give back to the community in which we live and study as you pursue your academic ambitions. In short to be the best version of you! In return we promise you outstanding pastoral support, first class 6th form facilities with a variety of subjects on offer and a staff and 6th form team determined to support you. If that sounds like something that appeals to you, we would love to receive your application!
Mr Allenby
The 6th Form Team
Mrs Harrison (left) is our Head of 6th form. Mr Allenby (right) is our Assistant Headteacher responsible for 6th form and Post 16 Guidance & Careers within 6th form. Mrs Stewart is pictured in the centre. Mrs Harrison and Mr Allenby's key role is making sure our students are happy and successful during their time with us, so that they are fully prepared for an exciting future. This starts with discussions with students and parents in Year 11, as we help guide them towards the best possible combination of Sixth Form courses. It finishes when we support and manage their applications to university, apprenticeships and careers. During Sixth form we manage a tutor programme that helps them develop independent learning skills they’ll need for adulthood. We also work with students on an individual basis to support them academically and holistically.
Mrs Taura Stewart- Assistant Head of Year 6th Form
Mrs Stewart brings a wealth of experience to our 6th Form team and supports the day to day running alongside Mr Allenby and Mrs Harrison. Mrs Stewart's role is to help students to be confident, resilient and well rounded individuals prepared for life beyond 6th Form. She is available to meet with students on a 1-1 basis to further support their emotional wellbeing and can signpost students to external support. We have an open door policy and an informal friendly approach that allows students to come to us with any issues or queries.
