West African Lions are endangered because of poaching and habitat loss. The scientific name for the West African Lion is the Panthera Leo Leo. There are approximately 120 - 375 left in the world, although there are 450 left in captivity. 

The West African Lion lives in Savannah. One of the other reasons it is endangered is because of habitat loss. Savannah is also home to zebra and wildebeest. 

The West African Lion is an apex predator in Savannah. An apex predator is an animal that is at the top of the food chain. The African lion's diet is, zebras, wildebeest, young elephants, giraffe, gazelles, antelopes and warthogs.

By reducing illegal bushmeat consumption, supporting better protection of their shrinking habitat and championing anti-poaching measures.
