q1 w6 (9/28 - 10/2)

Monday (9/28) - Student will take notes on absolute value, prime and composite numbers, the LCM and GCF. Students will also take notes on key word for mathematical operations and will practice translating sentences to a mathematical expression or equation. 

Tuesday (9/29) - Students will do some addtional practice on translating sentences and will learn about the the properties of real numbers. 

Wednesday (9/30) - Students will learn about exponents and will practice evaluating exponents. 

Thursday (10/1) - Students will learn about roots and will practice evalauting roots. 

Friday (10/2) - The students will have a quiz on classifying numbers, vocabulary, translating sentences, exponents, and roots. Then, the student will learn about Order of Operations. This lesson will be continue to Monday, 10/5, where students will have plenty of time to do examples and lots of practice. 

q1 w5 (9/21 - 9/25)

Monday (9/21) - SUB DAY - Students had a work day to complete their Unit Rates and Conversions Packet (all pages, every problem, due Tuesday, 9/22). 

Tuesday (9/22) - Students had a warm-up reviewing unit rates and conversions, graded their homework, and began their quiz. 

Wednesday (9/23) - Students finished their quiz, and started taking notes on classifying numbers. 

Thursday (9/24) - Students continued taking notes on classifying numbers. They also learned about the story of the square root of 2.

Friday (9/25) - HALF DAY (Harvest Festival) - Students filled out a graphing organize and bubble map to organize the relationships between the classifications of numbers and practiced classifying numbers. 

q1 w4 (9/14 - 9/18)

Monday (9/14) - Students took notes and had examples problems involving percents. Their homework is pg. 1 of the Percent Word Problems WKS. 

Tuesday (9/15) - Students took notes and had examples on percent word problems (calculating percent off, sale price, percent increase or decrease, ect.). Their homework is pg. 2 of the Percent Word Problems WKS. 

Wednesday (9/16) - NO CLASS (CLT Testing)

Thursday (9/17) - Students had a warm-up, graded their homework, and took notes and had examples on unit rates and unit conversions.

Friday (9/18) - Students took notes and had examples on rate conversions. 

q1 w3 (9/8 - 9/11)

Monday (9/7) - NO SCHOOL (Labor Day)

On Tuesday (9/8), students took notes on fraction vocabulary, place values, and percent. They also learned how to convert between fractions and decimals.

On Wednesday (9/9), students took notes on conversion tricks and they learned how to convert between a percents and decimals.

On Thursday (9/10), students took notes on converting between fractions and percents. They also took their first Common Conversions quiz. They will have the opportunity to retake the quiz as many times as necessary until they recieve a 100%. They also had work time in-class to work on the Conversions WKS (due Friday).

On Friday (9/11), students reviewed conversions (using a flow map), did a warm-up, graded their HW, took their weekly quiz on Conversions, and had an opportunity to retake the common conversions quiz.

q1 w2 (8/31-9/4)

On Monday (8/31), students will finish the Algebra 1 Pre-Assessment and will have an opportunity to retake their multiplication facts quiz (100 facts, 1–12, in 5 minutes) and complete the Challenge Problems (see the Resources tab).

On Tuesday (9/1), students will participate in a number sense activity designed to help them perform math facts quickly by visualizing and manipulating numbers.

On Wednesday (9/2) and Thursday (9/3), we will begin Unit 1. The first few weeks of the unit will focus on addressing gaps in students’ knowledge based on their pre-assessment results. The first topic we will cover is conversions. Students will focus on common conversions between fractions, decimals, and percents that they will be expected to memorize.

On Friday (9/4), students will take notes on fractions and place value, as well as how to convert between decimals and percents.
