Education is about preparing for the future…..“Learning to Learn” is the thrust behind current educational trends. What we learn today will provide the building blocks for the experiences we will meet tomorrow.
While the decisions of “what is learnt” and “how learning takes place” are decided by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), schools and teachers, there comes a time when students need to make some decisions about their own learning.
Stage 5 is the first opportunity for most students in secondary schools to have real input into their studies. This opportunity at St Peter’s Catholic College will require the selection of two electives. The elective choice is both wide and varied, giving the opportunity for both students to study courses that they are interested in, and in which they can succeed.
In selecting the electives, it is important that students consult with their teachers and the curriculum team of the College. Consultation is an important part of the process, as it allows each student to get an “in depth view” of what Stage 5 is about and what is required to successfully study a given subject during this next important stage of their education.
The choice of subjects will vary for each individual. Students should select subjects that will enhance their education and future opportunities.
