Externally delivered VET (eVET) courses are delivered usually at TAFE or another private provider (RTO).
In recent years the more popular courses for students at St Peters have been:
Accounting
Animal Care - Animal Attending
Early Childhood Education
Hairdressing - Salon Assisting
Health Services - Nursing
Plumbing
Courses are usually on Tuesday afternoon, 2pm–6pm only, however they can be full day courses depending on the qualification.
See VET at St Peter's for more information.
Externally delivered VET (eVET) requires students to develop the competencies, skills and knowledge described by each unit under the training package and Training Plan.
The certification level will depend on the course. A Certificate III VET qualification can provide a pathway entry to University. At the University of Newcastle a Certificate III ranks as a ATAR of 67.
Depending on the course students select, they may have the option to sit a HSC Examination that contributes to an ATAR.
Externally delivered VET (eVET) attract an additional cost. Some of these costs will be met from the NSW Government via the CSO providing a 50% cost reduction. All applicants who choose to proceed with enrolment must be prepared to pay 50% of the total eVET course cost.
Families will be advised of the final charge as soon as fees are available, usually at the end of this year. If you proceed to accept the course and sign the contract the fee will be added to the schedule of school fees. No refunds are available if a student withdraws from an eVET course after the billing date as per the acceptance letter.
In the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC), mandatory work placement is a requirement for VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses, and non-completion of this placement can lead to the course being withheld from the HSC.
