North Shore

Berowra Heights

Berowra Heights is located near Kuringai National Park in the Norther Shore region of Broken Bay's Northern Beaches.

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around a number of Aboriginal Cultural Sites, some that are not advertised to the public and explore a well known Ceremonial site depicting Daramulan, a being from the Guringai Creation Story, to investigate conservation and preservation efforts and the impact of human settlement.

Mount Colah

Mount Colah is located near Kuringai National Park in the Northern Shore region of Broken Bay's Northern Beaches.

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around a number of Aboriginal Cultural Sites, some that are not advertised to the public. Teachers investigate some rare plant communities and investigate possibilities as to why this place was referred to as the "Angry Place" by the local Aboriginal people drawing on the subject matter of a number of Cultural Sites.

Teachers consider the possible link of these Cultural Sites to another near Playfair Rd in Mount Colah that featured a Koradji (Clever Man) that was first brutually damaged by a boy with a pick before building a house over it. Teacher's also consider the connection between Mount Colah, Mount Kuringai and Berowra Heights i.e. the Angry Place, Koradji, Baiame and Daramulan.

Mount Kuringai

Mount Kuringai is located near Kuringai National Park in the Northern Shore region of Broken Bay's North Shore.

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around what is perhaps the most culturally significant Aboriginal site in Broken Bay featuring Baiame and two of his wives.

Teachers investigate the geographical features of the area, impact of the building of the main northern railway line and subsequent disconnection for Aboriginal people to visit it's partner site on the other side of the railway line i.e. the sites purpose and intended audience.

Cowan

Jerusalem Bay is located in Kuringai National Park in the Northern Shore region of Broken Bay's North Shore.

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around the impact of the building of the F3/M1 Freeway on the natural environment and cultural sites.

Teachers investigate the geographical features of the area, impact of the building of the main northern railway line before investigating the sites purpose and intended audience. Teachers consider current measures employed to protect the cultural site.

Old Bobbin Head

Old Bobbin Head Road is located in Kuringai National Park in the Northern Shore region of Broken Bay's North Shore.

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around the construction of the Old Bobbin Head Road, the impact of the same on the environment and significant cultural sites. Teachers also investigate the impact of maintaining the electricity network from within the National Park.

Teachers investigate a number of cultural sites and assess attempts to preserve them. An investigation into a rare plant community is also conducted.

Brooklyn Dam

Old Brooklyn Dam is located in Kuringai National Park in the North Shore region of Broken Bay's North Shore.

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around the history and construction of the Old Brooklyn Dam, the impact of the same on the environment and significant cultural sites in the area.

Teachers investigate a number of cultural sites and assess attempts to preserve them and possible future action.

Berowra Waters

Berowra Waters is located in Kuringai National Park in the North Shore region of Broken Bay's North Shore.

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around factors that have seen local Cave Art destroyed and local engraving sites preserved. Teachers will investigate several middens, the bed of a creek under a waterfall, a Cave Art site, a vertical engraving site and assess attempts to preserve them and possible future action.

Northbridge

This Field Trip assists teachers to build knowledge around the impact of housing and recreation on Clive Park on a significant Cultural Site that was used for countless generations for ceremony, cave art, engravings and burials.

Teachers will investigate several middens, a Cave Art site, a vertical engraving site and assess attempts to preserve them and possible future action with a focus on the often vandalised vertical whale engraving.
