I am working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology at the University of Delhi's Deshbandhu College. I joined this college in July 2012. Previously, I taught at Miranda House, Shivaji College, and Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, and Shivaji College, all of which are affiliated with the University of Delhi. I completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Zoology at the University of Delhi in 2011. The title of my thesis is "Purification of epsilon-HCH (Hexachlorocyclohexane); Role of LinA (HCH dehydrochlorinase) and LinB (HCH haloalkane dehalogenase) in its degradation, and screening natural variants of LinA for better HCH-degrading potential." My areas of interest include Cloning, Taxonomy, and Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology. Luckily, with the blessing of my guide, Prof Rup Lal provided the opportunity to visit as a Research Scholar for six months in the Laboratory of Dr. Hans Peter Kohler & Dr. Thomas Poiger (February–July, 2010) at Eawag (UMIK, Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology), Department of Environmental Microbiology, CH-8600, Dubendorf, Switzerland & Research Station Agroscope Changins- Wadenswil, Plant Protection Chemistry. I visited under the project entitled “Environmental Risk and Bioremediation of Hexachlorocyclohexane Isomers,” which was part of the Indo-Swiss Collaboration in Biotechnology (ISCB). I have published twenty-five research papers in reputed National and International journals. I have participated in several seminars, conferences, and workshops at both National and International levels, and I have presented my research at International and National conferences. I have also attended workshops, faculty development programs, and faculty induction/orientation programs. I was involved in one minor research project under the DBT Star College Scheme. I have developed e-content chapters for undergraduate and postgraduate courses under the MHRD project. Additionally, I have authored more than twenty chapters in edited books published in reputed journals such as Springer, Taylor and Francis, and Elsevier. One of my book is titled Practical Zoology: Chordates (Vertebrates), ISBN: 978-93-6559-084-5, published by Swaranjali Publications. I am actively involved in college administrative activities, having served as Co-Convenor of the Life Sciences (P) Society, as Convenor for organizing talks under the Colloquium Activity in the Department of Zoology, and as Staff Advisor of the Zoological Society “Chimera.”
