DESHBANDHU COLLEGE AIR WING NCC

The college also has one Senior Division NCC (Air Wing) sub unit with strength of 50 boy cadets. The NCC which was introduced in Universities and Colleges in 1948 through an act of Parliament under the Chairmanship of Pt. H.N. Kunjru, aims to develop qualities like character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship, selfless service of the country, etc. in the cadets. It also aims to create a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces. NCC air wing organizes many camps throughout the year in which the youth are trained professionally by PI staffs from Indian Air Force. Cadets are awarded 'B' and 'C' certificates, which enable them to obtain 5-10% advantage in securing employment with Armed forces, Police and CRPF. In addition, NCC also provides various kinds of scholarships. Camps in adventure sports including parasailing, firing, paragliding and hot air balloons are organized every year. Besides, it also holds Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat Camp (EBSBC), Basic Leadership Camp (BLC) and Annual Training Camp (ATC),All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC),trekking and mountaineering camps, etc.

OUR NCC OFFICER

Flying Officer (Dr.) Kumar Shantanu is steering Air Wing NCC Troop of Deshbandhu College since 2014 as Senior Division NCC Officer in the college. An Officer is an important link in the NCC organization between the training Battalion/Unit and the Cadets. Colleges have NCC troops/platoons/companies which are under the command of a teaching faculty, who has got formal NCC training at Officers’ Training Academy, Kamptee (Nagpur) & GIS, Indian Airforce Station, Tambaram (Chennai). He is known as NCC Officer. As a matter of fact, these officers are the feeder node of NCC since they are the one who is in direct contact with the cadets throughout the year.
