The Keychain project is finished!
DAY 1
Today we went into Illustrator and chose an image to make into a keychain! We placed our image on a 4x4 artboard because we wanted our keychains to be 4inx4in
The image I chose was of my dog with the word thursday because I love my dog and I thought the thursday would be funny
DAY 2
Today we went into Illustrator and created an outline of our keychain using the curvature tool, we also made a hole for the keychain using the curved rectangle tool. We also started to create the images we were going to engrave into the keychain!
DAY 3
Today we went in and refined our objects as well as sending them to the epilog printer. I had issues with deciding the shapes inside my keychain but I figured it out and was able to print!
THEN..... we printed!
NEXT
Our next goal was to create a sticker for the back of our keychain. We went into Adobe illustrate and chose a picture
Next, we went into the outline that we created for our keychain and duplicated it. We brought the outline to the front so we could clip-mask the image. We also learned how to create a hole in our sticker by making it different colors the deleting the circle to create a hole and not a completely different object. We then rotated the object and made the outline the cutout pink cuter for the Rolan sticker machine.
The next thing for us to do is to print our sticker on a big sheet, so we took our sticker and put it in a shared google drive.
After we printed our stickers using the Roland sticker maker, we cut them out and began to place them onto our wood keychains.
This is my finished project!
This is also my finished project but with its sticker counterpart on my computer!
Reflection:
What went well during this project?
During this project, I found it easy to work with Illustrator, and the way that Mr.Supiro outlined our instructions made it much simpler.
What challenges did you face?
I faced a few challenges during this project. The first issue I had was that when I had originally sent my outline to engrave and cut from wood to the epilog printer I had forgotten to include a hole for the keychain. I was able to fix this but I ran into a separate issue while the machine was cutting out my keychain, Dawson had a power outage. It came back on and we were able to cut out the rest of it. Another issue is that the space between the ring hole and the edge of my keychain was too small and when I tried to put the ring in the keychain the space between broke off.
What would you do differently if you were to do this project again?
If I were to do this project differently I would definitely want to listen all the way through with instructions and double check before I make a final decision. I would also make sure that I moved the hole down enough and away from the edge so that when I put in the ring it didn't break.
