Write-up: In the keychain project, I brushed up on what I already knew. The goal of the project was to laser-cut the shape of a personal photo and create a keychain. I loved the idea of the project because it gave students comfort with the machine while being fun and personalized. I chose to use a photo of a skimboard I used in Florida last Christmas. I chose this image because I like the water. I love my keychain and will keep it on there for a long time- if not forever. I love the look of the board and its well-known shape.

STEP 1 Getting an image
Reason NO: Less distinctive
Reason NO: Goofy shape
Reason YES: Distinctive shape
STEP 2 Start an outline
Start an outline that is similar to the image you are using (skimboard). The skimboard is a simple shape to trace. You can trace the skimboard with the curvature tool. The best part of the curvature tool is that if you mess it up you can just use (Command Z) to get you back to where you were before that point. The ellipse tool could also be used in the next part of the project for the hole
STEP 3 Remove the image and laser cut.
When attempting to laser cut your keychain, or do a sticker you will be greeted with a screen similar to the one above
After this, go directly to the portal and find the bulletin board for the class>makerspace resources> equipment>and then where you need to go from there. Decide what you need to print and send it to the laser cutter.
STEP 4 Add to keychain
The most beautiful keychain of all time....
STEP 5 Print stickers and cut
The Scissors Used
The Printed Stickers.
The used sticker pad, stickerless
STEP 6 Apply stickers to target area
Beautiful Finished Product
Reflection
What went well during this project?
I think the design and simplicity of my project went very well. I could have made a much more difficult image, but I like how well the board fits in with my keychain.
What challenges did you face?
I think the most difficult challenges I faced were missing a couple of classes and getting back to everyone else's speed. I overcame this by asking others for help and working quickly and efficiently.
What would you do differently if you were to do this project again?
I think if I were to do this project again. I would have done the keychain in acrylic and I would have made the design slightly more detailed along the edges.
