1. Account Setup
Follow the steps below to access your account
Install DAWn Audio from the Apple Desktop App Store here
Click the "Get Started" button and follow the instructions to create your account.
2. Download the DAWn Mac Extensions
You'll need some third-party extensions to run a studio on DAWn
Download the "DAWn Mac Extensions.dmg" here by selecting "Download anyway" in the window that opens
3. Install VB Cable
VB Cable is required to route audio from your DAW to DAWn
Open the "DAWn Mac Extensions.dmg"
In the folder "VB Cable" double Click "vb-cable-installer.pkg" to install
DISCLAIMER: May need to run as admin or enter admin username and password to install
DISCLAIMER: Download will open a browser window, feel free to close

4. Install PD
PD is used to sync audio with your co-creators
Open the "DAWn Mac Extensions.dmg"
Move "Pd-0.53-2" application to your applications folder in Finder
Now that you've installed all our necessary extensions, you can eject the Mac Extensions dmg if you'd like
5. Setup MIDI Ports
You'll need these to edit your co-creators' projects
Open “Audio MIDI Setup” on your Mac
Perform spotlight search if necessary ("⌘ SPACE" or "search icon" at top right of Mac nav-bar)
Click "⌘ 2" on your keyboard, or Select: "Window" → "Show MIDI Studio"
Double Click "IAC Driver"
Check “Device is online” box
Make sure there’s at least four buses/ports - can add ports using “+” under "Ports"
IMPORTANT: Click “Apply” if you added any ports
6. Set up MIDI in Pro Tools
You'll need this to get DAWn talking with your DAW
IMPORTANT: Make sure you set up 4 MIDI buses in the Mac Setup Process
If not go back to step 5
In Pro Tools, at the top of your screen, go to Setup → Peripherals → Machine Control and make sure to check the box that says "Enable" under "MIDI Machine Control Remote
In Pro Tools, at the top of your screen, go to Setup → Peripherals → MIDI Controllers
In the first available row, set:
Type to "HUI"
Receive From to your first MIDI bus (Most likely "IAC Driver, Bus 1")
Send To to your second MIDI bus (Most likely "IAC Driver, Bus 2")
In the next available row, set:
Type to "M-Audio Keyboard"
Receive From to your third MIDI bus (Most likely "IAC Driver, Bus 3")
Send To to your fourth MIDI bus (Most likely "IAC Driver, Bus 4")
DISCLAIMER: May receive "Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI..." error
Check the box "Don't show me this again" and press "OK"
7. Set up Audio in Pro Tools
Last step to get DAWn talking with your DAW
In Pro Tools, at the top of your screen, go to Setup → Playback Engine
Set the Playback Engine to VB-Cable and press "Yes" when asked to automatically save and close your session
All set and ready to co-create!
