I'm excited to be your CTE TED Ed teacher this semester. I look forward to getting to know you as you're in my class. I have two beautiful girls, a sophomore and a senior college student at Gardner-Webb University. I'm also married to a wonderful husband.
I grew up in Rowan County and graduated from East Rowan High School. I went on to college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and received my teaching degree in 2001. This will be my 25th year in education. I taught at the elementary school level for eight years, mainly in 4th and 5th grade in both Davidson and Rowan Counties, before earning my Master's Degree in Instructional Technology through Appalachian State University's distance learning program. I became an Instructional Technology Facilitator for several years. After returning to App State once again, I obtained another Master's Degree in Library Science to become the media specialist at Churchland Elementary and stayed there for eight years.
I returned to the classroom during 2020: the year of COVID and remote learning, to take this position in CTE Technology Engineering and Design. I added the area of Technology Engineering and Design to my license to embark on this wonderful adventure of Middle School. I enjoy teaching middle schoolers and the curriculum we get to cover in CTE. I love that I get to help students on their path to their future, whether it's college, community college, the trades, military, or a specific job.
Along with teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. My favorite place to visit is the beach.
I can't wait to start this semester and look forward to what this year holds!
