Ever since I was young, I've always been curious about exploring the world and everything that it had to offer me. Fast-forward to 19 years later, I've found myself having lived in three countries, all of which I can now comfortably call "home".
Pursuing my education abroad for the past three years of my life has helped me develop a deeper cultural and historical understanding of Vietnam, India, and the United States, as well as enable me to explore new perspectives from their local contexts.
I'm excited to continue to broaden my horizons through traveling and learning from, as well as serving different communities around the world as I continue on with my education!
My Education Through the Years
My education began at the Canadian International School in Vietnam, where I actively engaged in service, student government, and sports throughout high school. Being exposed to a diverse environment and learning from my international classmates and their experiences early on inspired me to forge my own path abroad, which led me to discover the United World Colleges (UWC) system, which is where I ended up next.
After being accepted to UWC Mahindra College, I spent my last two years of high school in the Western Ghats of rural India, away from the bustle of city life that I was used to in Vietnam. Here, I completed the IB Diploma Program and explored my interests in climate justice and advocacy further through living in nature and learning about these issues from the perspective of locals who are directly impacted by climate change. I discovered Davidson College through one of my robotics club member who got accepted, and subsequently applied and got in.
Watch a little project on my first time living away from home!
Davidson College is my current "home", where I am actively engaged in various organizations and activities on campus. I look forward to pursuing a physics major here, while also exploring climate justice through the lens of my local context in North Carolina. At the moment, I am investigating the impact of CAFOs on low-income and marginalized communities through my ecology classes, on-campus events and public hearings about the issue.
W.I.P. hehe...
