together, our numbers will continue to decline. And let’s be honest—none of us are

getting any younger. The future of the DAV Auxiliary depends on what we do now.

So, when you invite someone to join, do it with pride. Do it with energy. Do it with the

kind of excitement that makes people want to know more. Do not just ask, “Do you want

to join our organization?” No, tell them why we matter. Tell them what we do. Tell them

who we serve. Let them feel the heart of the DAV Auxiliary through you."

Growing our membership helps strengthen our Units, develop future leaders, and ensure the DAV Auxiliary can continue serving veterans and their families for generations to come.

Through that connection, members share ideas, support one another, build friendships, strengthen leadership, and create greater opportunities to serve. Together, that connection helps us continue our mission of making a difference in the lives of disabled veterans and their families.

Here are 5 simple ways members can help grow DAV Auxiliary membership:

Tell Your Story – People connect with people. Share why you joined, what the Auxiliary means to you, and how your service has made a difference.
Invite Someone Personally – Don’t just post an announcement. Ask a friend, family member, caregiver, or eligible veteran family member to attend a meeting, event, or service project with you.
Make the First Experience Welcoming – Greet new people, introduce them around, explain what is happening, and follow up afterward. A warm welcome can turn a visitor into a member.
Show the Mission in Action – Invite potential members to participate in projects serving disabled veterans and their families. Seeing the Auxiliary at work is often more powerful than simply explaining it.
Stay Connected After They Join – Membership growth is not just recruiting—it is retaining. Check in, invite new members to participate, help them find their place, and encourage them to attend Fall Conference, Mid-Winter, and National Convention so they can experience the larger Auxiliary family.
