A long time ago, arctic explorers had discovered gold under the ice in Antarctica. They were mining the gold and sent the gold back to the mainland in one large shipment.
“Cold out here, isn’t it,” said the worker. “Definitely,” said another worker. (The ship rocked violently).“What was that?” asked the captain, looking out from the bridge. He looked out to see a shark leap out of the water and take a crew member overboard; he watched in horror as the crew ran in panic as they were picked off one by one leaving the captain alone to eventually freeze to death. The workers at the mainland base waited with bated breath as if they were waiting for the world to end. But their hopes were in vain, for the ship never returned.
Since the disappearance of the ship, no gold had been recovered until a man named Dan Fisher braved the cold arctic waters driven by gold fever. Sunlight filtered through the ice at the surface, and the frigid waters hugged his wetsuit. As he neared the ship sunken under the frozen waves, Dan saw no sign of danger; however he thought his discovery had been too easy. He cautiously swam even closer. He was within throwing distance now. He paddled closer… If he reached out far enough, he could just brush the algae-covered hull of the boat with his fingers. He smiled to himself as he felt the slimy algae between his gloved fingertips. He was the very first diver to ever touch this great mass of wood since it sunk. He decided to take his victory farther; after all, he was supposed to be finding gold. As he swam into the murky remnants of the forgotten wonderland, he heard a strange sound, like the scraping of nails on a chalkboard. He sensed a strange disturbance in the waters. He tasted the metallic taste of fearful anticipation in his mouth, and he saw a strange shape moving toward him in the dark arctic ocean. He thought nothing of it, though, and went on to search for the gold.
Dan, strategizing about the gold that lay below him, slowly made his descent. He meets a narwal , who helps him find a way into the ship, which was in very poor condition and large in size. What is this narwhal doing, is he trying to help me? he asked himself. Upon arrival into the ship, Dan found an opening and in seconds he found a 16 century gold necklace that was in a small storage room used by passengers on the ship. After hours of exploring and no new treasures,
Dan decided he should resurface since he was running out of oxygen. Preparing to surface Dan notices movement in the corner of his eye. He immediately freezes and ponders about what may be lurking in the waters around him. Out of the corner of his eye, he spots a grey, gargantuan creature. Oh my, what was that thing? he thought to himself. It moved once more, and that’s when the panic began.
Dan knew in that moment that beneath his flippers was one of the most dreadful members below sea level. However, he also knew that his short supply of oxygen was rapidly decreasing, and if he didn’t reach the surface in a matter of minutes, his lungs would deteriorate, and he would perish from suffocation. As the shark slowly crept to Dan’s position, an elongated, hollow tusk stopped the shark in his tracks. It seemed as if the two creatures were attempting to communicate with each other. His mind filled with confusion, Dan didn’t know what to do or where to begin. It was difficult to interpret, but he was determined.
“If you kill him, they’ll kill us.”
“It’s not like they’ll be able to retrieve his body from down here.”
At this point, Dan could fully comprehend what the two were arguing about. They were discussing whether or not he was going to be eaten. The man then made the creatures aware that he could hear them, so then, he spoke back.
“Look, you’re going to take a singular nibble of me, and then you’re going to get a bitter taste in your mouth. You’re going to leave me here to die, and it’d just be better for all of us if…”
The voice abruptly fainted. Dan ran out of oxygen.
After Dan died, he floated slowly down to the bottom of the ocean. The shark realized that he was sinking and therefore the shark devoured him. All of Dan’s gear floated to the surface near his ship. Another boat saw Dan’s ship and went to see what's wrong. They found the ship empty, so they took to the water. While they searched the water, they saw flippers and an oxygen tank with Dan’s name it. They collected Dan’s items and took his ship back to the docks. The search team that found Dan’s items researched to see who he was. They decided to head back to the location where Dan’s equipment was found to see if Dan was anywhere near. There were no signs of Dan. So, the team went under the water to see why Dan was down there in the first place. They were in astonishment with what they saw. Treasure!!!!! When the guys reached the bottom of the ship they grabbed the gold and riches. They swam up to the surface with the treasure. “What should we do with this treasure?” Said one of the crew members. “We should donate the rewards to Dan, he’s the one who found it.” The crew members then donated the riches to Dan’s family and rewarded them for their ancient find. They contacted his family and told them the heartbreaking news, Dan was dead. Dan’s family cheers up when they hear that they will be getting all of the treasure that was found.
Dan only had a few members that attended his funeral. Dan’s family sorrowfully held hands and they said a prayer to keep him in their hearts. Jordan, his brother had said a few sollom goodbyes. He talked about a time when they both went scuba diving together. Many news reporters had written about how the search and rescue team searched for Dan, they had found that his body laid upon the ship, from there a guy named Jose, dove down to get him, and found that, that ship he lay upon was a ship that had sunk five years before. Many researchers now after this situation where able to find many artifacts from the sunken ship, and now have a lot of information on how the ship had sunk.
One scientist had once stated, ”finding more about this ship each and everyday will help us find out what caused this accident. After Dan’s viewing at his funeral his family had went out for dinner. This dinner was not any ordinary one. It was one where they remembered all of the memories they had with Dan. One of his closest friends claimed,” Dan was always into the nature under the sea, and a couple of days ago he told me he had a few good ideas where that ship had sunk. I think that is why he had been dead near the ship, he was looking for it, half eaten by a shark.”
Everyone at the table said, “Everyone will remember Dan when out in the sea.” Investigators had called Dan’s mom and stated, “We just investigated Dan’s house and it seems as if he had a receipt from “Kay Jewelers.“ It was a wedding ring and it was most likely for the love of his life.” Dan’s mom had then claimed,” That is very unusual because he has been a very lonely guy who did not seem to like to date. Try going through his contacts to see who it was for.” After this incident had taken place investigators concluded it was for a woman named, “Sue.”
Researchers then did their hard work to find more about her. It had taken many long hours to conduct on researching, but they got a hold of her and got lots of information. Sue had said to the investigators that she had a secret that only Dan knew about. Investigators had to take her to court to reveal the secret. Sue had stated,” My dad was the captain of that boat that had passed the lives of so many.” The court had Sue leave. This gave researchers a good amount of information and they were even able to conclude how many passengers were on the ship. There were 58 passengers. The court did not do anything to Sue they were glad she had stated the secret.
Scientists found that Sue’s dad did not have anything to do with the accident of the ship. A scientist stated,” the ship had sunk because something from the sea had gotten into the pipelines and had flooded the boat. Causing it to sink.”
Dan’s family had hypothesized that the best thing to do was to give Sue the ring that who was most likely the one who Dan wanted to give to. Dan’s family was pleased to meet Sue. They had thought she was a very fine woman. They wished Dan would have told them about her. Sue had been welcomed to come to Dan’s family whenever she may need them. Sue was very excited to know she had a family to come to because she was very lonely. Sue had told them how she was also a scuba diver.
Dan will live on forever in our hearts, and we know he had maken it to heaven. “Amen” they had said. Dan was one great gentlemen, he loved his life, and loved everyone he was around. Very few times did he complain about anything. He was a very adventurous man. His curiosity had helped him to find that ship. We still wish he was with us today.
If that shark had knew how amazing Dan was he would have swam right past Dan. Dans’ family had gotten a phone call from “Good Morning America,” they were asked to be on the show as Sue was too. As said by “Good Morning America,’’ We all know you probably heard about the amazing finding of the ship, but a tragic ending by a shark attack for a lovely and lonely man Dan. This tragedy had only turned out to be a love story for Sue. Sue and Dan had met two years before this tragedy. No one knew, Dan was not lonely after all. Dans family found out that Dan had just purchased a ring for Sue the night before the incident.” The show went on.
Dan’s fame will live on forever. People donated money to create a museum in his honor and findings. Sue wrote him a biography to always remember him. The book became a, “New York Times Bestseller.” The leaves swayed off the tree as Dan’s family went on in life with the most favorite memory of Dan. Not just any memory a memory that will always be remembered.
