Aiming to prevent small children from drowning, we designed a comfortable and lightweight harness that transforms into a flotation device should the wearer accidentally fall into a pool or body of water. Upon submersion, the device rapidly inflates and brings the child to active safety.

Team 5 – Spike-Ease

Danni Lu, Karl-Oskar Pajus, Clare Mitchell, Ussaid Mustajab, Khanh Le

Spike-Ease is a hands-free, adjustable, step-in traction shoe attachment that provides elderly or people with low mobility an easier-to-use alternative to state of the art microspikes, allowing our users to more safely travel in snowy and icy winter conditions.

Team 6 – Bench-Chair

Ava Ori, Cassidy Wechter, Adam Alto, Julian Kiyabu

To improve students' access to exercise equipment, we built a desk chair that converts into a workout bench. While it functions as a normal chair, it also can recline to both 45º and 180º and has an adjustable headrest so that it can be used to exercise, in addition to its additional function as a bench to seat friends when hosting.

Our product is a finger strap designed to protect rock climbers from the most common injury: finger pulley sprains and ruptures. After conducting rigorous testing on a scaled-up finger model, we produced our final product: a lightweight, thin, durable, and easy-to-use finger strap that provides pulley support.

Team 10 – Team X

Will Dinauer, Dakota Black, Erich Woo, Wendell Wu, Pam Pitakanonda

Our product is an attachment to dumbbells that prevents rolling when they are put down between sets.

Team 11 – E-Zzz Shade

Evelyn Piech, Kai Etheridge, Avery Moorhead,
Nathan Syvash

Dorm room blinds do not sufficiently block out light, leading to light exposure while sleeping. Our device is an adjustable product that attaches to the sides and top of a window to block the light from all angles. It includes adjustable Velcro pieces to fit different windows and attaches to the window frame with command strips. It uses magnets to seal the sides of a blind shut and easily opens and closes.

Team 12 – Toe Armor

Courtney Sepucha, Emily Wangenheim, Chris Sherman, Alexis Loveraz

Toe Armor is a foot protector product that utilizes shear-thickening fluids to offer users an exceptionally comfortable and efficient lifting experience while wearing socks. Its unique design comprises comfortable layers that always provide reliable protection for the toes at all times while lifting.

Team 13 – Heel Riser

Timo Hemphill, Gray Hemans, Moses Matanda,
Josh Baxter

Our device is an adjustable heel riser, consisting of two wedges made of steel. This product helps individuals with low ankle mobility increase maneuverability to successfully perform a squat.
