Shelter
Team 1 – AutoSense
Emma Koch, Karina Mitchell, Samuel Siaw, Taylor HickeyAutoSense is a device that uses thermal sensors to detect a lingering presence around your car, and via a notification system it alerts the user of the potential danger. This device was created to alleviate the fear, held by many young women, associated with parking lots and parking garages.
Team 2 – Klean Knobs
Maria Mora, Ivy Junqing Yan, Madie Augusto, Dylan ChanKlean Knobs is a device that utilizes magnetic and IR motion sensors to clean doorknobs after use to minimize the spread of bacteria. We focused on creating a doorknob cleaning experience that is automatic, affordable, and highly effective for all.
Team 3 – Humble Abode
Uhuru Hashimoto, Sabrina Barton, Emma Hazard, Namit KapoorOur Humble Abode project group designed a temporary winter shelter for unsheltered homeless individuals. Our shelter used an origami design to improve on the design of conventional market alternatives.
Team 4 – EZPC
Muhtasim Miraz, Phyo Pyi Kyaw, Jhujhar Singh Sarna, Gebriel Belaineh, Walter MwanikiIntroducing EZPC, which is a portable, compact, and ergonomic product for backpackers/campers looking to stay outdoors overnight.
Team 5 – RestStop
Jasmine Oh, Cindy Yuan, Snghyun Byon, Jennifer Xu, Hannah KimRestStop is an inflatable device composed of two bases and a bed that levels out the surface of benches with armrests that prevent comfortable rest.
Team 6 – Phoenix Logs
Eric Gibson, Bronson Starsiak, Russell Rapaport, Luc CoteOur project is a log press which converts used cardboard and paper products into burnable logs for fireplaces, wood stoves, and campfires.
Team 7 – Shhh-inator
Harrison Munden, Anna Byrd, Isabella Frohlich, Daisha ThorntonThe Shhh-Inator is a cutting-edge device that reduces the harsh noises emitted by countertop appliances like coffee grinders and blenders.
Team 8 – PhonePack
Dev Kapadia, MacKenzie Guynn, Danielle Tamkin, Eamon HanleyThe PhonePack: A locking box with a bag attachment to hold your phone or other distractions while trying to do work. The container is paired with an app which tracks how long you store your phone and rewards you at a rate proportional to the amount of time the product is used.
Team 9 – Safety Susie
Kealia Haitsuka, Ethan Gearey, Adelina Sederman, Emma MoffetThe "Safety Susie" is a lazy susan with a stationary wooden plate and rotating plexiglass dome that functions with a plexiglass wall to allow for contactless serving on bar tops in restaurants and bars. Our device can be implemented across bar tops with additional plexiglass for social distancing, creating a safer dining environment for servers and customers.
Team 10 – The Icebreaker
Christian Sauer, Kyle Schubert, Ashaunte Hill, Andy BeanThe Icebreaker: a light up, customizable cube designed to make spontaneous social interactions easier by displaying the user's academic/social interests and hobbies, as well as their willingness to interact with others.
