Shelter

Team 1 – AutoSense

Emma Koch, Karina Mitchell,  Samuel Siaw, Taylor Hickey

AutoSense is a device that uses thermal sensors to detect a lingering presence around your car, and via a notification system it alerts the user of the potential danger. This device was created to alleviate the fear, held by many young women, associated with parking lots and parking garages.

Team 2 – Klean Knobs

Maria Mora, Ivy Junqing Yan, Madie Augusto, Dylan Chan

Klean Knobs is a device that utilizes magnetic and IR motion sensors to clean doorknobs after use to minimize the spread of bacteria. We focused on creating a doorknob cleaning experience that is automatic, affordable, and highly effective for all.

Team 3 – Humble Abode

Uhuru Hashimoto, Sabrina Barton, Emma Hazard, Namit Kapoor

Our Humble Abode project group designed a temporary winter shelter for unsheltered homeless individuals. Our shelter used an origami design to improve on the design of conventional market alternatives.

Team 4 – EZPC

Muhtasim Miraz, Phyo Pyi Kyaw, Jhujhar Singh Sarna, Gebriel Belaineh, Walter Mwaniki

Introducing EZPC, which is a portable, compact, and ergonomic product for backpackers/campers looking to stay outdoors overnight.

Team 5 – RestStop

Jasmine Oh, Cindy Yuan, Snghyun Byon, Jennifer Xu, Hannah Kim

RestStop is an inflatable device composed of two bases and a bed that levels out the surface of benches with armrests that prevent comfortable rest.

Team 6 – Phoenix Logs

Eric Gibson, Bronson Starsiak, Russell Rapaport, Luc Cote

Our project is a log press which converts used cardboard and paper products into burnable logs for fireplaces, wood stoves, and campfires.

Team 7 – Shhh-inator

Harrison Munden, Anna Byrd, Isabella Frohlich, Daisha Thornton

The Shhh-Inator is a cutting-edge device that reduces the harsh noises emitted by countertop appliances like coffee grinders and blenders.

Team 8 – PhonePack

Dev Kapadia, MacKenzie Guynn, Danielle Tamkin, Eamon Hanley

The PhonePack: A locking box with a bag attachment to hold your phone or other distractions while trying to do work. The container is paired with an app which tracks how long you store your phone and rewards you at a rate proportional to the amount of time the product is used.

Team 9 – Safety Susie

Kealia Haitsuka, Ethan Gearey, Adelina Sederman, Emma Moffet

The "Safety Susie" is a lazy susan with a stationary wooden plate and rotating plexiglass dome that functions with a plexiglass wall to allow for contactless serving on bar tops in restaurants and bars. Our device can be implemented across bar tops with additional plexiglass for social distancing, creating a safer dining environment for servers and customers.

Team 10 – The Icebreaker

Christian Sauer, Kyle Schubert, Ashaunte Hill, Andy Bean

The Icebreaker: a light up, customizable cube designed to make spontaneous social interactions easier by displaying the user's academic/social interests and hobbies, as well as their willingness to interact with others.
